Nickoline & Mattiel
My favorite part of my process is truly in the act of making something new that I finish and as soon as I put it on, feel that it’s special. There’s a rush, that turns into love, but nothing beats that first moment of allowing yourself to acknowledge your creation, and to feel proud of it, too. I want to build this rush into the feeling of how Nickoline is experienced. By releasing one piece at a time, available immediately and open to commissions for custom reinterpretations of the silhouette, as the original fabric may be limited to the first edition based on availability of the textile. I work with vintage, antique, dead stock and up-cycled materials and the volume widely varies from scraps to 15+ yards.
‘The Grass One’
I’ve been here before
After 30 years of exhaling
I squish into my 8 year old bare feet
Seam ripping the bunches of blades of grass
Dandelions between each toe
Sunshine kissing each strand of my hair
I’ve been here before
I sink into the ground
Cool moss pushing air into my lungs
I can inhale my whole body
Every speck of me begins to dance
To the sounds of my first favorite song
I had forgotten
I’ve always been here
Look No. 1 — Re-married
Look No. 2 — Resurrection
This Piece is called Resurrection, as it was the first piece I draped under Nickoline that felt right for this new world. In many ways, this gown represents a reignition of vitality in myself and in my work. There is a vulnerability in the black sheer silk and raw edges, delicately held together by two points at the shoulder and high waist.

Look No. 3 — Mattiel
These pieces are inspired by my dear friend and artist I deeply admire, Mattiel. The silhouette was created for a special evening in NYC as she performed with Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. These pieces to me embody an artists subtle shift and movement towards embracing feminity, with celebratory reveals and a soft structure that frames the body.

Look No. 4 — Era’s End
Era’s End translates the transitional phase, acknowledging movement from one big piece of life to the next. In the past year, I’ve experienced many changes in myself and in my relationships. This piece is about accepting those changes and being grateful for time passed. The sheer brown crushed silk resembles human as one with nature.
